Zubin has been with Placements.io for less than 6 months and has already been doing some amazing things! With an impressive background and skill set, we are proud to have him on the team. Here’s a little about Zubin and what he’s been up to:

What was your background before you joined Placements.io?

Zubin: Before I started at Placements.io, I worked as a Backend Engineer at Outreach.io for 2 1/2 years. When I joined there were less than 10 engineers and when I left the team had expanded to 40 engineers, so it was a fast-growing startup. Before then, I was working at Amazon for 3 1/2 years doing full stack development, and before that Microsoft for 6 years.

Why did you decide to work at Placements.io? What drew you to this role and company?

Zubin: What attracted me to Placements.io was the ability to make more of a direct impact on the company than in my other roles. From talking with the team at Placements.io, it seemed like a company with a very bright future and I was excited to be a part of that.

Can you tell me more about your role?

Zubin: When I joined, my first project was to revamp and improve the elastic search feature of the platform. Then I moved to doing the first version of the Placements.io public API. I really enjoy working on projects from the ground up.

What’s something valuable you’ve learned since starting at Placements.io?

Zubin: One thing that really surprised me is everything our platform is capable of. We are able to accomplish things as if we were a much larger engineering team.

What has been your biggest accomplishment at Placements.io?

Zubin: For now, helping to get the public API out has been my most major accomplishment. It took about 3 months including testing, which is around half the time it usually takes. That’s one of the great things about working at Placements.io; I have the freedom to take ownership of my own projects and move through them quickly.

Looking towards the future, what are you looking forward to at Placements.io?

Zubin: Right now, I’m excited to be setting up some DevOps operations reviews to see where there are potential future bottlenecks in our platform. That way, we can make sure we effectively scale for all our new incoming customers. These are the kinds of proactive measures that will really help us in the long run as we continue to grow.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Zubin: Definitely spend time with the kids. I also enjoy hiking, reading, and travel. Puerto Rico is one of my favorite places I’ve traveled — their Bioluminescent Bay was pretty amazing.

Thanks to Zubin for sharing. Stay tuned to learn more about the rest of the Placements.io team!
