Matt is our rockstar Product Specialist who helps make our client on-boarding process a breeze. If you need something done, Matt got it done yesterday.

What was your background before you joined Placements.io?

Matt: I graduated with an accounting and finance degree, but became more interested in the media and advertising industry. I ended up as a Director of Marketing and Sales for a small ad agency called Guppy Media and then co-founded a startup phone app. I did over 100 pitches and raised almost half a million dollars for the app, so it was a great experience. After that, I was an Ad Services Manager at SapientRazorfish, where I worked with clients such as Hulu, Target, Disney, Freddie Mac, and Best Buy.

Why did you decide to work at Placements.io? What drew you to this role and company?

Matt: After being a company co-founder and getting a taste of startup life, I could relate a lot to what Edwin has done at Placements.io and really appreciate how far the company has come. I wanted to work for a place where I could have an immediate impact and that’s definitely what Placements.io is able to offer. Also, my experience working with various platforms on the agency side of advertising helps give me additional insight into this role.

Can you tell me more about your role?

Matt: I do technical support, on-boarding, and implementation. I help migrate all the client data into the Placements.io platform and then work on configuring the platform to their workflows. I also consult with clients to come up with better workflows and procedures to meet the goals of each person on their team.

What’s best about the Placements.io platform?

Matt: Efficiency, syncing, customer support, innovation, and feature enhancements. As a team, we have a direction, but we’re flexible in that we can adapt with our clients and be more creative.

What’s the most challenging part about your job?

Matt: We’ve been having a big influx of new clients, all with different needs, which is a great challenge to be dealing with! Each of our clients has different pain points and procedures they’re used to, so sometimes that means getting creative and reverse engineering a solution that satisfies our client, while also improving their workflows. We’re not about forcing our clients to change everything they’ve been doing to fit our platform, it’s more about finding a happy medium that will be the most efficient for everyone.

What do you like best about working here so far?

Matt: As cliché as it may sound, I think we’re really making an impact in the advertising world. We’re changing the dynamic of how ad operations is functioning, and that feels good. I really enjoy being client-facing and having the opportunity to find solutions that are actually scaleable.

If you could have any other job in the world, what would it be?

Matt: Part-time middle school soccer coach and part-time chef.
